A COLD and miserable day at Pioneer Park didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of Bright as they dismantled Moyhu on Saturday afternoon.

The Mountain Men were far too good for the eighth-placed Hoppers, despite the depth of both teams being tested with injuries impacting full-strength line-ups, to end up with a 13.13 (91) to 1.1 (7).

Goals were always going to be hard to come by on a heavy surface, as the two goal to one opening term proved.

The 34-point half-time margin should have been more as some chances in front of goal were missed, with the home team managing only three goals and eight behinds in the second quarter.

Another three goals in the third quarter and five in the last for Bright lead to an 84-point margin as the final siren sounded, as Moyhu remained goalless in the final three quarters of football.

A total of 26 scoring shots to two paints a picture of how dominant Bright were after quarter time, with a mountain of possession and time in forward half restricting Moyhu’s ability to score.

Key forward trio Luke Quirk (four goals), Declan Bren (three goals) and Cooper Thomason (one goal) played their first game together for months and opposition defenders will find it hard to stop all three players, who sit amongst the top ten league goalkickers.

Midfielders Zander Dalbosco and James Love continued their fantastic seasons to be Bright’s best, along with Quirk and Clay Cambridge-Dillon.

Nearest geographical rivals Whorouly will be Bright’s next opponent, and they will be hoping to get closer on the scoreboard than their last meeting, when the Lions were kept scoreless in a big win for the Mountain Men.

There was no reserves football last weekend for the Mountain Men, with Moyhu forfeiting due to a lack of player numbers.

After two weeks off, Bright will be hoping for another big win against Whorouly to reignite their season.

The reserves premiership race remains wide open, with only one win separating Milawa, Bright and Greta at the top of the ladder as the home and away season reaches an exciting final month.
