ON Sunday, November 13, the Mount Beauty Tennis Club held its long–awaited open day.
The club thought the wet weather outlook would stop the event, but decided to wait till 9am the morning of to make a final decision.
Just as well they did – luck, and fine weather prevailed just long enough to find a few hours of dry weather to run the event.
As soon as the event finished at 1pm there was a torrential downpour.
Approximately 90 people came out to experience what the club has to offer, a great number for attendees for a small club.
Club coach Geoff Hollow organised all the fun court activities for the day for both adults and children.
There were prizes for challenges on the tennis court followed by a final prize draw of the day for Australian Open ground passes and local shopping vouchers.
After the event, it poured, but at that point the club didn't care as the daw was a resounding success.
The club would like to send a big thankyou to the committee and the helpers who came along to assist on the day, as well as to all the attendees – without them, the day would not be as successful as it was.
The day was generously sponsored by the Australian Tennis Foundation – they were excellent to deal with and very obliging, and without their support the club would have struggled to offer the great prizes on the day.
