THE weekend saw a contingent of five under 12 and under 14 Myrtleford basketball sides travel to Wodonga to try their hand in a tournament against the best junior talent in the region.
The under 12 boys div 1 side made it to the semi–finals despite losses against Echuca and Wodonga, but were downed 43–29 by the Pirates – Xavier Millar's performed well with 14 points in the semi–final.
Myrtleford's under 12 girls bounced back from a 16–9 loss to Mansfield to record three stunning results against Yarrawonga Mulwala (20–15), Albury Cougars (32–10) and Echuca Pirates (38–5) to secure a spot in the quarter finals.
The Saints fought hard and overcame Wodonga by five points to progress to the semi–finals, where Myrtleford took down Benalla Breakers 29–14 to book a spot in the grand final.
Unfortunately for the Saints, they came up four points short against Wangaratta Warriors, downed 25–29.
The under 14 boys div 1 squad competed well all weekend but were unable to take home a win, while the div 2 squad picked up wins against Euroa Magpies (29–18) and Benalla Breakers (36–23).
The under 14 girls recorded some massive wins and narrow losses in their pool, with positive results over Mansfield Eagles Blue (23–6), Echuca Pirate (24–15) and Wodonga Wolves (24–12), but fell short against Yarrawonga Mulwala (19–25), and Deniliquin Giants in their quarter final (16–21).
