VICTORIAN F3 Road Racing Champion and Merriang South local Brian Lewis is looking to back up an impressive 2021 season on the bike this year, even though he missed the opening event.
Racing in the BEARS F3 category, on European or American manufactured race bikes with a maximum 1200cc engine, Lewis will begin his 2022 campaign this month.
He missed the first meet due to work commitments with the 727 Moto Team as a mechanic at the Australian Super Bike Championship in Queensland.
"Doing this sort of stuff for a super bike team is very rewarding, especially when they have a win," he said.
"I am able to see what these riders do against the best in the country."
The Super Bike Championship is the top–level national championship in Australia for up–and–coming riders and teams that are looking to take next step to international racing.
Lewis will also be getting back onto the bike for the next Victorian Road Racing Championship meet at Winton Motor Raceway on Saturday, May 14 to Sunday, May 15.
He, like all other riders, are hoping for a full season, unlike last year which was severely hampered by the COVID pandemic.
Lewis won last season's first four races at Winton Motor Raceway, and was disappointed that remaining events at Philip Island, South Australia's Tailem Bend, and the Bradford Speedway meet didn't proceed.
