MYRTLEFORD driver Jason Lennane and Wangaratta co–driver, Matt Whitten, have finished on the podium in the last round of the Australian Rally Championship.
Competing in the championship's two–wheel drive category, the duo finished in second place in the Forest Rally in Western Australia.
Driving a Proton Satria, Lennane drove a steady event over the three days of competition, ensuring that his 4000km trek across the Nullarbor Plain wasn't in vain.
Based in Nannup, three hours south of Perth, the Forest Rally was held on gravel stages that have been a part of the Australian Rally Championship for over 20 years.
Weather conditions were fine and sunny for the rally, and Lennane and Whitten had an almost trouble free run over the weekend.
A blocked fuel injector slowed their progress on the final day, but they were able to maintain their second place ahead of local driver Garry Mills in a Ford Fiesta, and Tasmania's Aidan Peterson in a Daihatsu Charade.
The result puts Lennane and Whitten equal second in the 2WD Cup, with the next event to be held in Tasmania next month.
