ALPINE Cycling Club's first national track cyclist, Lachlan Stewart, has had a fantastic campaign at his first junior national Auscycling championship, held in Queensland last week.

The 12 year old had a successful campaign as one of the youngest competitors in the U15 age group at this year's competition, finishing in the top 15 in the time trial and individual pursuit, with the best result in the scratch and points races coming 11th.

The championships was his first showing at the national championship.

He said being part of the Victorian team and riding with other riders from the state was a great experience.

"It was a huge learning experience that is going to set me up well for next year when I will be top age in the age group," he said.
