SEVEN members of the Alpine Cycling Club (ACC) competed in the Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic on the weekend, with the 267km race testing the riders’ strength and determination.
ACC’s Mat Gray, Phillip Bardsley-Smith, Christophe Baudry, Shannon Scott, Rob Doyle, Tom Christie and Lewis Fulcher all finished the difficult race, with both heavy crosswinds and a strong tailwind making the race a true challenge.
The last 60kms was packed with attacks for the lead, making for a gritty finale to the six hour race.
ACC’s Christophe Baudry claimed the B grade title, overcoming his opponents in a sprint to the finish line.
The race is one of the longest road races, distance-wise, in the country.
