The youngest of Ovens Valley United cricketers took to the pitch for the first time this season in a high scoring under 12s T20 last Friday night.

Both Ovens Valley sides faced off at Memorial Park, with OVUCC Orange winning by 30 runs in a competitive first round hit out over OVUCC Black.

It was a night for the batters as Ovens Valley Orange’s top three of Rylan Harris (28), Beau Sanderson (27*) and Thenuk Alwis (48*) set the tone to hit a first innings score of 6/161.

Hunter Harris topped scored for Ovens Valley Black with 56 before they ran out of overs on 6/131.

The under 14s were able to back up their impressive first round win last week by posting a formidable 9/257 in their 40-over batting innings at RC McNamara Reserve.

Captain Louis Sanderson starred with 71 from 54 balls not out while Hunter Harris (40) and Mitch McMasters (36) played strongly.

The under 14s will look to defend their score back at Myrtleford on Saturday.
