ALPINE Little Aths Club is seeking a whole new administrative committee to continue the great work and services offered by the club.

The current committee will step aside after forming the club and running it for five years, and are looking to pass the torch to the next generation at tomorrow's AGM, from 5pm at Pioneer Park in Bright.

Outgoing club treasurer Karlene Beck said the committee had more than done its share of work building the club to what it is today.

"We started off at the school because we didn't have a ground so we started at the Bright P–12 oval, they leant us their oval and all of their equipment," she said.

"Over the five years we've just gotten grants, most of them from Bendigo Bank, Alpine Shire, Commonwealth Bank gave us a bit, and we've got all of the equipment for Little Aths.

"All of our kids have aged out – speaking for myself, five years is probably enough of a commitment to give to the club.

"It's in a really good financial position and it'll be sad to see it go on hold – that'll be what happens if we can't form another committee.

"If somebody else wants to take it up in the future they certainly can."

Alpine Little Aths needs to fill the vital committee roles of president, secretary, treasurer, and registrar in order to keep the well–loved club going into the upcoming season.

Committee member will be ably assisted by the club's mentor program, which sees older kids paid for coaching and helping out with set up and running the events.

"We have kids that have aged out of little aths – after 16 you actually can't be in aths – so we get these kids to come back and they're mentors," Beck said.

"So we pay them and they help with the set up every week, they'll put the equipment out on the field and they run the events.

"They can show the kids how to do a long jump, how to do a high jump, show them the techniques, run the warm ups and all of that stuff.

"They do all the setup, the committee are there to assist with the setup and supervise.

"It probably takes about three people to run each event and we normally run three different events so the kids would move from a run to a throw to a jump event."

Those interested in a committee position with the Alpine Little Aths Club are encouraged to contact club president Poly Kay on 0407 765 952 and attend the club's AGM tomorrow from 5pm at pioneer Park in Bright.
