BRIGHT’S lawn bowl teams enjoyed a week of success, with both the midweek and weekend sides registering wins.
The B1 midweek side won by 85/14 points to Wangaratta’s 49/0.
Ernie Vanderwert’s team with lead Di Anders, second Gilbert Griffith, and third Linda Hayes won 33/16, Bill Hayes’ team of lead Bruce Neilson, second Libby Barker, and third Greg Pepyat got up 28/17, and Cheryl Raduczic’s team with lead Wayne Curtis, second Maureen Magill, and third Peter Raduczic won 24/16.
The A3 Saturday pennant was played at home, with Bright winning by 75/13 points to Benalla’s 72/5 points.
The players welcomed back both Steve Jenvey and Julie Ellis, who have been unavailable for most of the season due to injury and surgery.
Peter Raduczic team of lead Libby Barker, second Steve Jenvey, and third Linda Hayes won 29/12, Ernie Vanderwert’s team with lead Gilbert Griffith, second Julie Ellis, and third Bev drew 19/19.
Cheryl Raduczic’s team with lead Bruce Neilson, second Maureen Magill, and third Wayne Curtis went down 14/19, and Bill Hayes’ team of lead Otto Kupferle, second Sam Kupferle, and third Greg Pepyat lost 13/22.
A lovely afternoon tea provided by Bright bowlers was enjoyed by all.
As this was the last game of the season for A3, the main topic of conversation was the ladder.
Bright selectors have endured quite a few challenges to fill teams over the season due to player unavailability and injuries, was pleased not to finish on the bottom of the ladder and avoided relegation next season.
Club president Ernie Vanderwert organised a curry night after the game which members and partners enjoyed the cooking skills of both Ernie with Sri Lankin curries and Sam Kupferle’s Japanese curries.
