THE first game for the new year for Bright’s A3 pennant squad was played at Bright and the end result was a very pleasing win to Bright by eight shots.
Bright 75/15 points def YMGCR 67/3 points.
Martin Kupferle’s team of lead Otto Kupferle, second Sam Kupferle, and third Bill Hayes won 22/13, and Patrick O’Shea’s team with lead Libby Barker, second Linda Hayes, and third Elaine O’Shea took the win 21/19.
Ernie Vanderwert’s team with lead Gilbert Griffith, second Greg Pepyat, and third Bev drew 17/17, while Cheryl Raduczic’s team of lead Wayne Curtis, second Trevor Poyner, and third Peter Raduczic lost 15/18.
A lovely afternoon tea provided by Bright bowlers was enjoyed by all, and the main topic of conversation was the ladder situation as Bright is now sixth on the ladder with three more games to play this season.
The B1 Midweek Pennant side played their first game for the year on Tuesday, January 21 at home against Benalla.
The annual Community Bowls competition was due to start last Wednesday, January 15 but unfortunately due to the rain the night was cancelled.
There is a BBQ tea provided this week to all players from 6pm followed by competition at 7pm - spectators welcome to come along.
