WANDI local and author Leonie Katekar will be visiting libraries across the Alpine region to talk about her popular book, 'When We're Not Afraid'.

Ms Katekar's book tells the story of her 12,000 km bike–packing journey across South America in 2019, leaving behind her past and confronting her fears by embarking on this monster journey.

The story is about being brave, stepping out and finding out how we can pursue more profound happiness.

During her journey, Ms Katekar overcame overwhelming mental and physical challenges while experiencing the beauty of South America.

"I wrote this book to share my adventurous story but to also raise money for children with cancer and their families," she said.

The funds were raised throughout Ms Katekars' trip by writing blogs and allocating royalties from the book's publication to the same fund.

Ms Katekar will be visiting Alpine Shire libraries on Wednesday, July 13, when she will be in Myrtleford at 11am; and the following day visiting Mount Beauty at 10:30am and Bright at 2:30pm .
