MOUNT Beauty Cricket Club has successfully acquired $25,000 as part of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) program.
The funding will allow the club to purchase a new large area mower and expand the capacity of volunteers to maintain the outdoor community spaces.
Mount Beauty CC president Ross Wilson said the club's current mower was getting too expensive to repair.
He said the club had an an agreement with the shire to look after Les Pert Oval and the recreation reserve.
"The club has been applying for grants over many years as we have needed to replace our mower for a long time," Mr Wilson said.
"Along with the FRRR funding we have also been successful in being awarded $6000 from the Alpine Shire which will also go towards the mower."
Mount Beauty has been mowing the grounds to assist all the clubs and schools for several years, with the cost of a second–hand mower between $40,000 to $50,000, which Mr Wilson said is a much–needed investment into the community.
"The recreation reserve plays home to the Mount Beauty Cricket and soccer clubs and also the Dederang Mount Beauty Football Netball Club, while the Little Athletics and schools are using Les Pert Oval for their activities," he said.
