New Bogong gallery attracts a crowd

BOGONG Centre for Sound Culture (B–CSC) celebrated the launch of its new gallery space Saturday, January 18, with the exhibition Above the Snow Line, showcasing stunning photographic works by artist Sarah Lynch. Lynch's works capture the beauty and resilience of the Bogong High Plains snow gums and the event attracted local community members and visitors from Melbourne. Nestled in the heart of Bogong Village, the B–CSC has long been a hub for experimental art, sound, and ecological engagement. The well-attended gallery opening offered guests an immersive experience with captivating artworks that explored the intersection of nature and place. A highlight of the afternoon was the Artists in Conversation session, where exhibiting artist Sarah Lynch shared insights into her creative process and the inspirations behind her work with exhibition curator Madelynne Cornish. This open dialogue encouraged thoughtful engagement, with audience members actively participating and asking questions, fostering a lively and convivial atmosphere. The event not only showcased Sarah's evocative photographs but also strengthened community connections, reflecting B–CSC's commitment to inclusivity in the arts. The gallery launch marked an exciting new chapter for the B–CSC, expanding its cultural offerings beyond the residency program. The gallery promises further opportunities for artistic exploration and meaningful community engagement, solidifying B–CSC's vital role in the cultural landscape of the Alpine Shire with unique artistic experiences that resonate locally and beyond. Above the Snow Line is now open to the public until Sunday, February 23. The gallery is located at the Bogong Centre for Sound Culture, Main Street, Bogong Village, VIC 3699.
