ALPINE Shire celebrated its local young people this month, with the annual youth awards.
Around 150 people gathered at the Bright Community Centre to recognise and celebrate the 45 young people from across the Alpine Shire who were nominated for their academic, sporting, and artistic achievements; for their contributions to the community or workplace; and for their endurance and persistence.
The 2022 awards also saw the inaugural Proud and Deadly award, recognising young First Nations People as champions of their culture and community.
Alpine Shire mayor Sarah Nicholas said the quality of nominations was extremely high, and showed a spirit of determination and perseverance in all nominees.
