ACTIVE COVID cases in the Alpine Shire were at 65 this week, after 10 new COVID cases were detected on Monday.

According to the Victorian Government's Coronavirus data, this takes the total number of COVID cases in Alpine Shire since the pandemic started to 3325 – around 25 per cent of the shire population.

With most of the region having their second or third dose of the COVID–19 vaccine, Alpine Health has decided to stop doing PCR tests from today, with Bright and Mount Beauty officially stopping the tests, with the availability of RATs becoming easier.

If you need a PCR test you'll need to go to Wangaratta.

For those still wanting to get the COVID–19 vaccine, Albury Wodonga Health will be doing outreach services in Bright on Thursday, July 28 and in Myrtleford on Tuesday, July 5 and Tuesday, August 2.
