ALPINE Shire Council has released its draft Community Vision and Council Plan 2025-29, including the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP) 2025-29, for a final round of public comment.

Council said months of collaboration, conversations and careful planning had gone into getting the draft documents together, setting out shared goals for the next four years to reflect the priorities, challenges and hopes communities had shared.

Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, said the draft plan is built on what council has heard back through community engagement, including surveys, pop-ups, youth engagement, community panels and workshops.

"Since July 2024, we’ve been out in the community – listening, learning, and talking with people from all corners of our shire," she said.

Cr Nicholas said the engagement process helped ensure the plan is grounded in community needs and realistically resourced.

"We’re so grateful to everyone who took the time to share their ideas, feedback, and lived experiences – especially our community panel members, who gave up their time to dig into the big issues with us," she said.

"Now it’s over to the wider community to take a look at the draft plan and let us know if we’ve got it right."

The draft plan is on public exhibition for 28 days, with submissions closing at 5pm on Tuesday, 27 May.

Council will be popping up at local events and markets across the shire throughout the month of May to chat with residents and gather more feedback:

- Harrietville community pop-up on Saturday, 10 May, 9.30am – 11.30am at Harrietville Community Hall;

- Bright Make It, Bake It, Grow It Market on Saturday, 17 May, 9am – 12.30pm at Howitt Park, Bright;
