FAVOURABLE weather conditions will be a welcomed reprieve for firefighters this week as they look to take full advantage of the cooler and milder forecasts.

Fire danger ratings across the Alpine Shire have dropped from severe and extreme levels to high for the rest of this week with the highest forecast temperature expected to reach a balmy 32 degrees today.

Thursday could bring rain with a top of 29 degrees while the weekend should stay in the low 30s before an even cooler change on Monday with an expected 25 degrees.
