THE Alpine Shire recorded 23 new cases of COVID–19 in the previous seven days from Thursday, September 8, bringing the total number of active cases to 15 – 18 less than the previous week.

According to coronavirus.vic.gov.au, government data released on Friday, surrounding municipalities recorded varying levels of case numbers.

As of Thursday the Rural City of Wangaratta had 67 active cases, down from 73 on September 4, with 81 new cases recorded the week before last Friday.

Benalla Rural City had 46 active cases, down from 82 the week before, with 51 recorded in the last seven days.

Indigo Shire had 43 active cases last week, with 44 recorded in the previous seven days from last Thursday.

This is up from 37 active cases the week before.

Wodonga City has recorded a small drop, with 104 active cases last week, down from 107 the week prior.

Mansfield has seen an uptick in cases.

From only one active case as of Sunday, September 4, the shire has now recorded 13 cases over the week from last Thursday, bringing their total number of active cases to 13.

Finally, Moira Shire had 45 active cases, down from 69 cases the week before, with 53 new cases recorded over the preceding seven days from last Thursday.

Since last week the Victorian Government has moved to weekly reporting of COVID–19 data every Friday.
