IT was a busy week for golfers across the region, as spring golfing continued.

Myrtleford Golf Club

AT the Myrtleford Golf Club’s annual meeting this week, John Costello was announced as the club’s 24th Life Member.

John has been a member for over 24 years, with one year as president, two years as vice president and is in his 10th year as club treasurer.

Life Membership is the highest accolade and honour the Myrtleford Golf Club can give to any member.

It is to be reserved for the few generous people who have unselfishly devoted a large part of their time, energy and lives to enrich and improve the golf club.

Mount Beauty Golf Club

THE ladies of the Mount Beauty Golf Club played 18 holes on Wednesday, October 30, which was won by Carol Bartholomew with 39 points from Liz Harvey with 37 points.

The ladies played 18 holes again on Saturday, November 2 which was won, this time, by Ruth Rynehart with 40 points from Liz Harvey with 38 points.

NTP on the seventh (second shot) was Liz Harvey.

The men played the back nine on Wednesday, October 30, which was won by Macca Deans with 22 points from Ron Gallagher with 21 points.

Don Mason also got a ball for his efforts with his 19 points.

NTP on the 17th was Peter Hertzog and on the 18th was Peter Johns.

Monthly Medal was the comp played by the men on Saturday, November 2 which was won by Allan Retallick with his net 66.

Heath Hudson came in next with his net 68, while Victor Selway (net 71), Bruce Plant (net 72) and Rick Biesboer (net 74) secured a ball each in the ball comp.

NTP on the seventh was Peter Hertzog, along with the Tatts Ticket from the Tawonga South Newsagency & Post Office, the ninth was Dave Browning, 17th was Rick Biesboer, and Shane Purss took home the money on the 18th.

Monday, October 28, mixed gender vet’s golf.

With many of Bright’s real golfers playing in the North East Vet’s golf at Wodonga, there were only 10 players in the competition and the winners were, Colin Richardson 27 H/C 33 points C/B, Ian Browne 24 H/C 33 points.
