MT HOTHAM hosted its inaugural 'White Ribbon Run' event in support of domestic violence awareness on July 30.
Participants skied and snowboarded down Slalom Gully, with each person receiving a ribbon symbolising solidarity with domestic violence victims.
Following the run, participants met at Snake Gully Hut for coffee, where $1 from every cuppa sold was donated to the White Ribbon Foundation.
Vail Resorts, through the Epic Promise Foundation, matched this donation, doubling the impact of each purchase, with $500 in total donated to the White Ribbon Foundation.
Set to be an annual event, the 'White Ribbon Run' was part of the annual Women’s Ski Week program at the alpine resort and provided a chance for the community to support an important cause.
"We’ve been hosting the Women’s Ski Week program for several years, and this year, with our largest number of participants ever, so we wanted to use the program for something bigger,” said Briony Johnson, spokesperson for the Women’s Employee Resource Group at Vail Resorts.
“We decided to use this opportunity to raise awareness and support for victims of domestic violence.
"Violence against women can happen anywhere, and we all have a role to play in driving change.
"As part of the Women’s Employee Resource Group at Vail Resorts, I am proud to play a part in that change.”
