A NUMBER of emergency services and arborists were called to assist in the recovery of a paraglider who had taken a wrong turn and crash-landed in a tree at Mystic Park in Bright last week.
At approximately midday on Wednesday, January 29, a paraglider in her thirties, who had taken off from the Mystic Hill launch point, became stuck near the top of a tree and required assistance returning to the ground.
Other members of the North East Victoria Hang Gliding Club (NEVHGC) then called emergency services and were relieved at the swift response.
"The rescue was coordinated by the Victoria Police Search and Rescue Unit with assistance from a skilled and accomplished local arborist," Acting Senior Sergeant of the Bright police, Romina McEwan said.
"We had a multi-agency response; the Bright SES, CFA, Ambulance and Fire Rescue Victoria were all on scene.
"The local arborist did an amazing job working together with the emergency services to help her back to solid ground.
"She was assessed by Ambulance Victoria officers and thankfully she had no injuries.
"We're very relieved and thankful for the safe retrieval of this paraglider.
"This was a great result for all involved."
Bright SES Controller, Graham Gales also voiced his gratitude for all emergency responders present on the day.
"We're really appreciative of the arborist, Tom Nicholson and his team from Tom's Rural Tree Services, for their contribution to the rescue," he said.
"Everyone worked together really well and got the best result out of this high-angle rescue."
