Biosecurity levy causes concern for cattle producers

LOCAL cattle producers have voiced their concerns over the Federal Government’s proposed new biosecurity levy, which they say should be a cost fronted by importers and travellers.

Mudgegonga cattle and sheep producer, Loretta Carroll, said grass-fed cattle producers already paid $6.85 in levies for every beast sold; $5 for the cattle transaction levy and $1.85 for the vendor compensation levy.
