Roslyn Bloomer - Tawonga

How long have you lived here?

I was born here and lived here until I was 18, then went to Melbourne to study music and nursing. I moved back in 2014.

What do you like about living here?

It's a little less busy than other tourist spots, I like the nature of the people in our community, it's a family-friendly place, and of course the scenery.

Would you like to see any changes or additions?

Yes. I would like to see a gymnastics program run in the stadium again (the equipment is already there), so that the kids here would another activity available. A river walk linking the caravan parks from Mount Beauty to Tawonga and beyond. A bike trail that would get people off the main highway, away from driveways that stretch onto the footpaths, which can be a hazard. It would increase accessibility between townships and the gradient means open to all ages and abilities. The local pool could get longer use with the building of a structure consisting of a roof and folding glass doors on some of the boundary of the pool. I've seen this done in other pools and it makes it available to be open for at least two more seasons - spring and autumn - along with the summer months.

What do you do, also your hobbies and interests?

I run the 'Pace Program' for Alpine Health, I love gardening and looking after our many chooks, taking care of my three children keeps me busy.

Where would you take visitors to showcase the area?

To the river at Redbank, up to Mount Emu and the High Country, to the gorge walk, and then go to one of our many cafes to relax and take in the views.
