Cathy Carne (with husband Neville Carne) – Myrtleford

How long have you lived in the area?

We bought a block of land between Myrtleford and Yackandandah about three years ago and in the last 12 months we've been building our house on the block. We moved in eight weeks ago.

What do you do for a living?

I'm a cook in aged care. I was working in Rochester, near Echuca, I transferred here into Alpine Health and I'm the first cook at Bright.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Our grandchildren. We've got a few acres with cows. We were dairy farmers for 20 years near Echuca.

What do you like about the area?

It's beautiful – the scenery, the hills. I like the climate and the people. I didn't realise how lovely and friendly the people are here. We've been made to feel very welcome since we've moved in.

Where would you take visitors to showcase the area?

Probably up to Mount Buffalo. We saw the snow from our front veranda the other night on Buffalo, which was really beautiful – spectacular. We only got a quick glimpse of it because of the cloud.

Is there anything you would change about the area?

The potholes in the road? It's very busy, which is great for the town. Bright seems to have something on every weekend. No I don't think I'd change anything.
