AN increased police presence on North East roadways has overseen a fatality–free long weekend for the Wangaratta region.

Wangaratta police members were out in force throughout the four day Operation Arid, which saw the unit conduct 1261 preliminary breath tests as part of a focused effort to detect and prevent behaviours contributing to road trauma.
