Cream of the crop

THE Mansfield Football and Netball Club held their annual presentation day last Saturday.

The festivities kicked off after midday at the club packed full of families, supporters and players as presenters launched into the awards.

The atmosphere was one of enjoyment from a proud club who's on and off field contributors had endured another tough and sporadic season.

With restrictions in their rear view, the Eagles reeled off a list of deserving winners while the beverages flowed.

Development Best and Fairest went to Sam Morrow with Ari Demasi receiving runner–up honours.

Most Consistent went to Geordie McLennan and Most Dedicated to Will Christopher.

Nick Watson took home the Coach's Trophy and Mitch Rekers was Leading Goal Kicker.

The U18s had joint Best and Fairest winners in Jimmy Payne and Nathan Buchanan .

Most Consistent went to Flynn Harding, Most Determined to Billy Dunstan, and Blake Lennnen took home the Coach's Award.

In the Seniors, Ben Christopher won Best First Year Player and Will Foster took home Leading Goal Kicker.

Jim Herridge took out Most Consistent, while Patty Marks received the Coach's Trophy.

It was Tas Clingan who took home the Seniors' Best and Fairest, with Brett Mahoney receiving runner–up honours.

Senior football coach Chad Owens encouraged the players to enjoy the event, it was a time to celebrate and they deserved it.

But with a recently extended deal and positive swell around his influence at the club, Owens wasn't standing still when he launched into pre–season plans.

"We've got 11 sessions before Christmas, make the effort," concluded Owens.

"Because I know Echuca will get there, I know Euroa will get there, I know Seymour will get there, I know Benalla will get there, but are we going to get there?

"Are we going to take that opportunity or wait until February?

"Are you going to take it upon yourself to show up and get the work done?

"Because that's what it's going to take."
