How long have you lived in the area?

Almost five years.

What do you do?

I work for Thamarrurr Youth Indigenous Corporation, which operates out of the Dumu Balcony Cafe. We're a cafe that trains young Indigenous leaders, who come from Wadeye (Northern Territory) to our community, to learn life skills and employability skills. The basic premise is to learn to walk in two worlds.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Skiing, walking, hiking and yoga. I'm also a yoga teacher, but I don't get to do that very often anymore. I also enjoy qigong and art.

What do you like about the area?

I love the connection to nature and the ability to go for a walk that takes you straight out into the bush without having to worry about bumping into anyone. It's beautiful and close to the snow. It's a lovely community as well.

Where would you take visitors to show case the area?

Buffalo is the first place I'm sure everybody mentions. Any of the mountains and the river, or just a walk in the bush.

Is there anything you would change about the area?

I think there needs to be a bit more planning, in terms of government planning, as to the services that are available. There are a number of people who are now coming here, and I'm one of them. Everyone wants to live here, but the services aren't going to be available really soon.
