Myrtleford – Eddie Hoffmann

How long have you lived in the area?

My parents brought my siblings and I here in 1955 and bought a dairy farm in Havilah, so I have been here for 66 years now.

What do you do?

I am retired now but I was a tour bus driver and worked on the oil fields for 10 years with another two years with the Austrian Army CMF. I joined the Myrtleford SES in 1981 so I have been active in attending vehicle accidents, searches and radio control for 40 years now.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Aside from the SES, I spend alot of time at the men's shed making things and talking, which is exactly what I am doing now!

What do you like about the area?

I love the weather and the nature; trees, pine trees gulleys and valleys. I also love Mount Buffalo and Lake Buffalo, that's my favourite.

Where would you take visitors coming here?

Mt Buffalo and Bright. Lake Buffalo and Nightingales in Wandiligong.

Is there anything you would like to change about the area?

No, nothing. Everything is fine just the way it is. Except maybe for a truck bypass to keep the big trucks out of the middle of the town.
