From Whorouly cow paddock to Canada

Isis has also been selected for an athletics tour of Canada and the US in June having never really been coached.

TWO years ago Isis De Bortoli was given a discus by her grandfather.

Armed only with natural ability the Whorouly teenager took to training in the yard at her family dairy farm.

Now, she is banished to the next paddock – warned not to hit any of the calves.

Isis has also been selected for an athletics tour of Canada and the US in June having never really been coached.

The Myrtleford P12 College student came to the attention of scouts at the recent all schools competition after finishing third in the discus and fourth in shot put at the Victorian state schools competition.

“I started by getting to zone in the discus without really knowing much about the sport at all and then started practising in the paddock and it all went from there,” De Bortoli said.
