THE big wet has claimed another victim – the Myrtleford Show.
Organisers in the past week have decided to delay the event by a month in the hope that event arenas and the side show alley dry out.
Myrtleford and District Pastoral and Agricultural Society’s Rosemary Garoni said it was the first time in more than four decades she could remember the show having to be moved or cancelled.
“We had been monitoring the state of the horse arena and the showgrounds in general for the past month,” she said.
“At one point we thought that if we were able to get a couple of weeks of dry weather then we could go ahead and then last week we ended up with another 100mm, creeks and rivers flooding.
“In the end it is a safety issue.
“It is just too wet, you can’t get on the ground it is just under water, you couldn’t park cars.
