Event funding boost

Myrtleford, Bright festivals big winners

Organisers of the Myrtleford Festival are planning to reinvigorate the festival in light of the Alpine Shire funding.

ALPINE Shire Council has thrown its support behind the Brighter Days Festival and The Myrtleford Festival for next year.

The two March Labor Day long weekend events have had their sponsorship and logistical support doubled for 2017.

Brighter Days will receive $10,000 worth of support for the event’s fifth instalment with sponsorship increasing from $3000 to $5000 and logistical sponsorship rising from $2000 to $5000.

Support for the Alpine Shire’s longest running festival, The Myrtleford Festival, will be almost three times what it was last year.

After only receiving $3500 in logistical support in 2016 the event will get $5000 in sponsorship and $4000 to help with traffic management and waste in 2017.

It’s great news for organisers of The Myrtleford Festival who have planned to reinvigorate the weekend after its viability was challenged by the Brighter Days music festival earlier this year.
