Bright finals hurdle

BRIGHT’S participation in finals football will be decided in the next two weeks after they were again unable to beat a side above them on the Ovens and King ladder.

The Mountain Men took it right up to the form side of the competition Bonnie Doon on Saturday but ultimately failed to come away with anything after a third quarter blitz by the Bombers secured them the four points, the final score 9.8 (62) to 14.11 (95).

Bright’s next two matches against sides also with 7-7 records, in King Valley and Moyhu, will likely make or break their season before they finish the home and away campaign against Milawa and Glenrowan.

Adding to the task is that they will be without a trio of key players for the next two games with star forward Tom Buckley, ruckman Dylan Cudmore and rebounding defender Sean McGregor all away.

Bright coach Regan Alexander knows how important the next two weeks are.

“This week is pretty much an eight point game and we have known for a while that these two games are super important, because all three of us are vying for that last finals spot,” he said.
