BRIGHT has thrown its name up as a premiership contender in Ovens and King C grade netball.

The young Mountain Maids caused an upset by defeating top placed Greta on Saturday morning.

Greta went into the match with just one loss for the season but Bright recorded their sixth victory of the season by winning 43-40.

Despite rain falling throughout the match both sides were fairly accurate in their play and shooting.

However, it was Bright who created more opportunities, leading the shot count 60-47, and ultimately it proved the difference.

Bright led at every change and held a five goal advantage at the start of the final term.
