BRIGHT P12 College’s focus on delivering quality language programs has now expanded for students almost two hours away from its Park Street campus.
With many small rural schools often finding it hard to attract teachers specialising in a language, Bright P12 College has offered their’s to another and hopes to get two more schools on board by the end of the year.
Now every Wednesday morning Japanese teacher Keiko Sanderink teaches students at Katamatite Primary School through the power of video conferencing.
Having been a classroom teacher for the last 18 months she is still coming to terms with teaching through a TV screen.
“It’s a challenge in itself because all the kids are not in the classroom with me,” she said.
“That’s where I need the classroom teacher on the other side to work with me because I can’t really see the kids.
