A YOUNG Bright cyclist has captured his best result in cross country mountain bike racing and now hopes to carry that form over to other racing disciplines.
Will Webb won his first state title at the Victorian Mountain Bike Cross Country State Championships in Castlemaine on May 1, doing so in the under 15 men.
After missing the cross country National Series due to two separate injuries over summer, a broken wrist and dislocated hip, Webb returned to racing in style.
The 14 year-old beat his closest competitor by nearly five minutes over two laps and 12km, a result he was extremely pleased to obtain.
“I just planned to give it my best shot and came out with what I was hoping for,” he said.
“I have raced school state championships a couple of times and won that but they haven’t really had an open state championships until this year so it was great to win that.”
