Dodd bags nine-for

WELL BOWLED: Jason Dodd celebrates one of his nine wickets with his Bright teammates in Saturday’s match against Greta.

ON a day when Bright’s main strike bowlers failed to fire a shot it was an unlikely hero who became the star for the Wanderers.

Veteran Jason Dodd claimed all but one wicket in the Wanderers’ B grade match against Greta at Pioneer Park on Saturday.

Having only bowled four overs in his previous four games for the club this season, Dodd, 41, finished with the remarkable figures of 9/39 from 15.3 overs.

His efforts helped keep Greta to 189 after they looked likely to post a huge score having found themselves at 0/133 a little over halfway through the day.

Greta batsmen Michael Honman (88) and Justin Triffitt (72) built the foundation for a massive score that would put their side in the box seat to sew up a finals berth while Bright, also needing to win to play finals, looked like they would have a seriously big run chase ahead of them.

After electing to field Bright only got 11 overs from their opening bowlers Andrew Badrock and Reuben Jamieson, Jamieson bowling just four after hurting his leg in his first spell.
