Tigers nearly knock off leaders

QUICK: Tom Sparks sends down a delivery.

OVENS Valley United’s under 12 cricketers came ever so close to inflicting Greta Milawa’s first loss of the season last week.

The young Tigers’ total of 7/135 wasn’t quite enough as Greta Milawa finished their 42 overs on 8/146.

A number of Ovens Valley United players posted their highest scores of the season with the top three batsmen particularly impressive.

Nicholas Blesser top scored with 29 not out, Tom Sparks made 17 and Marcello Vescio 13 while Josh Jones and Toby Cosser each added five.

Blesser, Cosser, Jones, Zac Allan, Josh Antonello, Erik Martin and Kaden Saric all took a wicket while Sparks took two catches and had a stumping.

The Tigers play Bright, who are coming off the bye, in Wandiligong this Saturday.
