A couple of stars seize the day

REHEARSING FOR WORKPLACE HEALTH: Actor John Wood and actor-comedian John Walker in rehearsal for ‘Carpe Diem’ a new play by Megan Rigoni. The play was performed for the staff of AGL Mt Beauty as part of their occupational health and safety program.

RECENTLY AGL Mt Beauty played host to acclaimed actor John Wood and actor-comedian John Walker in a performance of ‘Carpe Diem’, a new play from Tawonga’s Megan Rigoni.

The hydro-power company welcomed the work place performance as part of their annual Safety Big Day Out program.

‘Carpe Diem’ stresses the importance of mate-ship and professional care in difficult times, and follows two men as they support each other through their own mental health crises.

Ms Rigoni said that the play was inspired by the experiences of several of her friends.

“The issues at the heart of the play – stress, grief, loss and depression – are certainly prevalent today, with concerning rates of suicide and depression affecting Australian men, particularly those in rural communities,” she said.

The Logie-award winning Wood, who plays the lead, has partnered with Ms Rigoni in two previous productions.
