MYRTLEFORD Savoy have kept their title hopes alive with a resounding win over top placed Boomers FC on Sunday.
The Savoys kept their stellar run of form going with a 5-0 victory to record their third straight win and move within just three points of the league leaders.
The Savoys went into the match with Michael Ferraro and Arron Redman under injury clouds while Matt Vaccaro was doubtful after the passing of his grandfather late last week, however, all three got up for the match and played key roles in the result.
Michael Sacco opened the scoring for the Savoys just 10 minutes in – his first goal since returning to the club – while a penalty by Matt Park late in the half gave the away side a 2-0 advantage at the break.
And the Savoys carried on their impressive form in the second half with Park, Lewis Holloway and Dan Kelly all adding second half goals to top off a clinical team display.
Coach Joe Artavilla couldn’t have been happier with the result.
“I can’t complain with that performance can I,” he said.
“We seemed to play a lot better than last week, we kept our shape right through the game and the pressure we applied on them was right up there with the best it has been all year.
