Op Shop’s gift of life

WORKING TOGETHER: Bright Hospital Op Shop Inc volunteers, (from left) Jenny Howie, Nancy Cincotta and Helen Moss are just three of the 70-odd volunteers who help raise funds for our local hospitals.

FOR almost 40 years, the Bright Hospital Op Shop Inc has been donating much needed funds to local organisations, and the Bright and Mt Beauty hospitals are the latest lucky recipients.

The Bright Hospital Op Shop Inc recently donated $102,000 , for the purchase of new flexible endoscopy equipment for the two hospitals and Alpine Health chairman Brian King said the new equipment is a major contribution to the service delivery for local people.

“Alpine Health is very grateful to the Bright Op Shop as this funding is not available to the organisation from any other source,” he said.

“With this funding, Alpine Health is able to continue to provide high quality medical procedures at the Bright and Mt Beauty hospitals.”

The Bright Hospital Op Shop began operating in 1978, under the direction of Grace Reeves and Betty Sealy and owes its success to the dedicated longstanding committee members and volunteers, who continue to give their time.

Volunteer roles include managing the shop front, maintenance, pick-up and delivery of goods, sorting donations, laundering donations and mending, the team of some 70 volunteers ensure everything gets done.
