It’s a dam hold up

THE Bakers Gully Dams Remedial Works Project has already been delayed, with North East Water (NEW) awaiting various authority approvals.

The project was due to commence in June, however, NEW’s community engagement coordinator Misty Howard said despite handing in applications to North East Catchment Management Authority (NECMA) for working on waterways, and a planning permit and removing vegetation permit to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) and Alpine Shire Council in April, NEW was still awaiting a response.

“Following the community information session held at the end of March, both applications were submitted to the relevant authorities in April, as per our schedule,” she said.

“The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning is currently reviewing the documentation and once this review is completed we will then forward to Alpine Shire Council.

“Approvals are expected to be received for both of these by the end of July, 2015.”
