BRIGHT’S outstanding start to the Ovens and King football season continued on the weekend with another big win, this time over Benalla.

In their first away game of the season the Mountain Men were never troubled in recording the 29.32 (206) to 2.3 (15) victory.

In their last three games the Mountain Men have added 441 points while conceding just 62, at a per game average of 147 points for and just under 21 points against.

Thirteen goals to Rick Weimer – his second bag of 10 or more in the last three games after a haul of 11 in the reserves in round two – and a second straight best on ground performance by ruckman Tom McDonagh were the standout performances in another well rounded win.

Bright were at the peak of their powers in the first half, kicking 18 goals in the opening two quarters while holding the All Blacks to just one behind in the second term, to lead by 123 at the main break.

In the second half, despite Benalla dropping numbers behind the ball to try and stem the damage, the away side continued to add to their score.

The All Blacks did, however, get on the board in the third quarter with two majors of their own but it was no match for the Mountain Men’s seven.
