MYRTLEFORD’S senior men and women have recorded wins in the same round for the first time in 2015, after both defeated Albury Hotspurs in round six of the Albury Wodonga Football Association season.
Both teams bounced back from narrow losses to Boomers last week with the men winning 4-0 and the women 6-0.
After going down to Boomers the previous round in a match they should have won, the men’s side put in a solid performance at both ends of the pitch, producing their most successful day in attack and recording their first clean sheet of the year.
The win was also their first since the second round and ensured they didn’t fall further behind league leaders Wangaratta and Albury City.
Matt Park opened his account for the club in his second outing, scoring a double, while English recruits Arron Redman and Dan Kelly both hit the score sheet for a second consecutive week.
Men’s coach Joe Artavilla said he was relieved to return to the winner’s list.
