CathyVan rolls into town

SCHOOL TOUR: Bright P12 College students (back, from left) Douglas Harrison, Isabella Bartlett, Alex Shem, Indianna Wickes, (front from left) Claire Lock, Ben Hausser, Max Walton and Maddie Hewitt were thrilled to meet Cathy McGowan (MHR, Indi, pictured centre) last week.

RESIDENTS from Bright and district communities took the opportunity to meet their local federal member to discuss a number of issues and concerns in the area.

On Tuesday, March 10, Cathy McGowan (MHR, Indi) travelled in her bright orange CathyVan to Porepunkah, Bright, Wandiligong and Harrietville to hear the concerns of her constituents.

Ms McGowan said around 45 community members turned out and a number of key issues were identified.

“Porepunkah residents seemed to have some local government issues with the main concern being the main entrance to town and the road traffic in Station Street,” she said.

“The entrance to the shopping centre and the future direction of the town were also highlighted as key priorities for residents.”

According to Ms McGowan, Bright residents seemed to be more focused on “big picture policy”.
