UNDER THE HAMMER: (from left) Tim Robinson, Dan Ivone, Luke Diemel, Stephen Paull and Mick Lumby get the 21st Paul and Scollard Annual Weaner Sale under way.

LAST Friday’s Paul and Scollard Annual Weaner Sale has once again been good to local cattle producers as they netted good prices for both their steers and heifers.

The sale once again attracted a high percentage of buyers from interstate and that is where the majority of cattle went.

Just under 2000 head were yarded with 1236 steers and 726 heifers being sold on average for $834 and $688 respectively.

South Australian based company Thomas Food International (TFI) purchased just under one third of the cattle, taking 600 head for their feed lot, while cattle also went to NSW, Queensland and the Mornington Peninsula.

Gary and Wendy Howell from Rosewhite had the best pen with their steer weaners selling for $1055.
