ALPINE Shire residents interested in the future use and development of rural land in the shire are being encouraged to attend community information sessions this month.
The draft Rural Land Strategy went on public exhibition last month after Alpine Shire councillors unanimously endorsed the draft strategy during the September ordinary council meeting.
Members of the public have until November 7 to make a submission regarding the draft Rural Land Strategy.
Alpine Shire Council director sustainable development Heather Green, said the community information sessions were a good way for residents to learn more about the strategy, which if approved will break the Alpine Shire into eight district rural precincts.
“These precincts are defined by differing land use, locational characteristics, agricultural productivity and land use pressures,” she said.
“The strategy aims to achieve a balance between agriculture and development and protect and enhance agricultural opportunities.
