TWO young women were lucky to escape with their lives after they were involved in a car accident on the Great Alpine Road between Ovens and Eurobin last week.

Bright’s Alanah Tesoriero, and best friend Shannon Cherry, were travelling towards Myrtleford in a black 2005 Toyota Corolla Hatchback, at about 10.45am on Tuesday, August 19, when disaster struck.

“We had just passed the DEPI office and we approached a white sedan in front of us which was travelling under 100km and I decided to overtake and sped up to 100km,” Ms Tesoriero said.

“As I was overtaking the car it veared into my lane and pushed us into the dirt.”

Ms Tesoriero said she lost control of the car when it hit the dirt, but managed to get the car back onto the road.

“The wheels must have locked up because I couldn’t control the car and it crossed the road and rolled a couple of times,” she said.
